Noh Hye-Jin

Abstract
The main purpose of this paper is to analyze intergenerational transmission process of poverty through classification of entry process in labour market. In order to find out an answer to this question, this study classifies entry process in labour market of youth among poverty and compares the result with 5th quintile. To analyze entry process, this study used optimal matching of sequence analysis, cluster analysis, and multinomial analysis from Korea Labour Panel data(1-11waves). Findings of this study are as follows. First, poor youth were divided into 4 clusters (regular worker, change to regular worker, unemployment, and repeat of entry and exit) from employment status. And rich youth were classified 3 clusters (regular worker, change to regular worker, and unemployment). Second, in terms of job, poor youth were divided to 4 clusters (manual worker, frequent change job, various jobs, and unemployment). And rich youth were classified 3 clusters (professional, change to professional, and unemployment). These finding means that poor youth already experience unstable labour from entry process in labour market. And it is able to affect to the intergenerational transmission of poverty.
